About Me
Hi! I'm Laura.
I'm from Regina, Saskatchewan, although I've lived a lot of other places as well.
I love dogs, bikes, travel, books, the outdoors, and a bunch of other things. I'm a teacher, a writer, a hobby artist, and an all-round curious and adventurous person.

I made this website to chronicle my journeys, write about things in my head, and connect with other people. I hope you enjoy it.

My Travel Philosophy
Move at human speed. Talk to strangers. Connect with the earth.

These are the tenets I try to adhere to when I travel. For a long time, I travelled and travelled and just couldn't figure out why it all just seemed to roll by me. It didn't feel meaningful, and I frequently considered dropping it all for a settled life.
But then, between a high-altitude trek in Nepal and a fateful bike trip in Taiwan, everything changed. The experiences I was looking for did exist - but I needed to pursue them on my own two feet (or two wheels).

I'm not ashamed to admit that I love a good tourist spot as much as the next person, but by moving under my own power, I discovered the places in-between. These are the places where I found myself connecting with other people. These are the places where I felt connected to the planet I live on. And these are the things I had been looking for in all of my travels.
So going forward, I have tried to travel as actively as possible. I try to see the places in-between. I move under the power of my own body, and in the words of Robert Frost - that has made all the difference.
